Take in the beautiful scenery of Leitrim and challenge yourself on our more difficult cycling trails. These trails are over a couple of hours long and take you through some very difficult terrain. These trails are not traffic free but we will direct you on to the less travelled country roads and lanes.

They’re not for the faint hearted and you’ll need a certain level of fitness to be able to conquer some of them!

Take a trip around the beautiful Lough Allen as you cycle by Sliabh An Iarainn Mountain in the east and Corry Mountain to the west.

Embrace the great outdoors as you make your way through a trail that is rich in nature and history.

Stop off along the way to take in the beauty of the lake and its many piers. The trail can be taken at any pace so it’s perfect for a memorable day out.

As you pass through the village along the way strike up a conversation with the friendly locals and sample some of the local produce.

On Corry Mountain, you’ll be greeted by the wondrous view of Lough Allen. It’s the perfect picturesque moment for a memorable photo.

After this, you’ll be heading straight through a wind farm and into many heritage sites that are full of fascinating Irish history and culture.

This cycle is a wonderful trek to take either by yourself or with somebody else.

Our electric bikes take the effort out of the steep climbs on this trail but if you’re looking to push yourself, we’ve got regular bikes available too.

There are a lot of historical places to visit along this trail including megalithic tombs, a holy well, an old sweat house and so much more.

While climbing over Kilronan Mountain you’ll be met with breathtaking views of Lough Meelagh and Kilronan Castle Hotel. On the other side of your trail, you can take in the magnificent view of Lough Allen and Sliabh An Iarainn.

The trail then takes you to Arigna Village which was once a village that thrived on coal-mining. Here you can step back into history and take a tour of the mines at Arigna Mining Experience.

After Argina Village, the trail is all downhill towards Bellantra Bridge where you can stare in awe at the beauty of the River Shannon as it flows out of Lough Allen.

Your return cycle is a peaceful journey along the Shannon Blueway where you can cycle back right next to the water’s edge.
